Hi my painting friends!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and that we all have a peaceful and prosperous 2018.
I can’t believe it’s the end of December! This month has gone by in a blur. I caught the flu early in December and have spent a LOT of time sleeping since. I can’t shake the dredges of the bug and still get tired very easily and cannot get rid of my cough. Next year I will get a flu shot.
I have many things to get caught up on, including the 2nd projects for November and December, as well as a contest that I announced last month and forgot to finish. Susan Kelley and I are finishing up the January issue of Painting Ezine and I want to tell you to be sure to get it when it comes out because Chris Thornton-Deason has a great article on a beginner’s introduction to colored pencils. I liked it so much I was inspired to pull out my colored pencils today to play, and the result was this sweet little “Valentine” bear project which I’ll be posting for January as soon as I write the instructions…
This is a simple colored pencil project that could also be easily adapted to acrylics. I’ll include colors for both. I did it on a 5″x7″ card, and will include a drawing to fit an 8″x10″ canvas or surface of your choice. I’ll try to get this posted by Monday if not sooner.
Well that’s it for now. I’ll go back to writing instructions. Have a safe New Year’s Eve! Even though it’s Dave and my 12th wedding anniversary, we’re going to keep it simple and just go out to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law, then probably back home to celebrate a quiet ringing in of 2018.
Thank you so much, Sharon for the lovely design! I really want to give it a go! Happy New Year to you! <3
Thanks Sheila… pencils are a good project for armchair art!
I have been doing embroidery in the evenings as ‘armchair art’ as you called it. It is good to keep being creative and easy to transport from room to room. 🙂
I came down with the flu on Dec. 9 and it’s been a slow recovery. I still have a cough and tire easily, so things I can do sitting in my recliner are good. Also been single digit temperatures for the past 2 weeks and it’s hard to motivate myself to go to my studio in the basement or my office in another part of the house which are both colder. Much more cozy to sit in my recliner with my lapttop, sketching pads, and the fireplace going. But we are supposed to be getting a warm up in the next day or two!
It is really cold and snowy here today. A shop day for me. I hope you feel better soon. ((HUGS))
